This is an art blog.
Specifically, an art blog focusing on modern, black artists. Now, when I say "modern" I don't necessarily mean some famous dude from the 20th century. If you made something last week, you're pretty dope too and it would be great to feature you here.
In case you haven't seen my "About Bliss" page yet, I'm a multimedia journalist from the midwest. As such, I'll try and outline more about this blog using the 5 Ws (and lonely H) of journalism.
Who: Me. And you! Have a piece you'd like to see featured? Wanna give your two, three, four or five cents about something? Hit me up and I can help you out with that.
What: Art by black artists, as well as other artists who have made a significant impact on black art, no matter the color. I will also post about resources, equipment...you name it!
Why: I noticed that whereas there are tons of blogs and websites about art in general, I haven't seen too much about black artists. Hopefully this becomes a solution of sorts.
When: Postings will be at least twice per week, per Mr. Online Journalism Teacher.
Where: In front of my computer screen
How: Very carefully.
The name "The Black Paint" came from many artists' (specifically painters) use of colors other than black to create a dark color/black. I personally use a deep purple more often than actual, unadulterated tube black. Besides giving the lonely color some love, it is indeed a play on the blog's subject matter.
If you have any more questions please post them in comments. I like questions :).
Love, peace & gesso
